📰 Main Story - New Pokémon Teased In First Episode Of New Horizons!
The first and second episodes of the new Pokémon anime, New Horizons, aired in Japan on Friday April 14th. The new series, the first not to feature long-time protagonist Ash Ketchum, follows the stories of Riko and Roy as they embark on their own Pokémon journies.
🤩 Excitingly, the second episode teases a never before seen Pokémon. The creature bares a resemblance to Terapagos, a new legendary Pokémon that was revealed on Pokémon Day. Not much is known about this never before seen monster, but it could potentially be a form of the Terapagos itself (similarly to how Koraidon and Miraidon have different forms).
The first and second episodes focus on Rika’s story, a young girl from the Paldea region who is enrolling in Sekiei Academy in Kanto. These episodes are a thrilling introduction to the new series that features brand new Pokémon from the Paldea region, some menacing villains, and more revelations about a mysterious pendant that Rika received from her grandmother.
🗺 Where the first two episodes takes place is especially interesting. Being set in Kanto, are we going to see familiar faces from the original anime? It would be a boon for fans, and a nice bridge to the new series if old faces like Professor Oak, Brock, or Mysty made an appearance. We’ll have to wait and see.
It’s also great to see the new series lead off with a female protagonist, a nice change of pace from the original which began with the male lead Ash.
👉 You can watch the first and second episodes in Japanese here, which is currently available on the official Pokémon Japan YouTube channel.
I’m not planning on covering the new anime in detail but comment on the post if you’d like more updates on the Japanese version of the new series.
