📰 Main Story
This week an exciting new trailer dropped for the next series of the Pokémon anime, Pokémon Horizons (English title), bringing with it a ton of new information.
The new series - and the first not to feature Ask Ketchum (Satoshi in Japan) marks a new era for the Pokémon franchise as the first to feature many new monsters from the latest Scarlet and Violet games.
Here’s everything you need to know:
🤩 New Characters Revealed:
The trailer introduced two main characters, a girl named Riko and a body named Roy. Riko’s companion Pokémon is the adorable grass-type Sprigatito. Roy’s is the fire-type starter from Scarlet and Violet, Fuecoco.
We also got to meet Friede and his companion, Captain Pikachu, who together lead the Rising Volt Tacklers. This group, which features at least 6 members, looks to be a rag-tag bunch of heroes who travel the Pokémon world in an airship. No doubt they will play a big role in Riko and Roy’s journeys.
Potential antagonists also made an appearance. Ametheo, who uses a Cerulegde, looks to be a rival and leader of a group called the Explorers. The group features two additional characters, Jiru and Konia, whose partner Pokémon are Rydon and Golduck respectively.
🆕 New Pokémon
A bunch of new Pokémon made an appearance in the trailer, including a truly legendary shiny Rayquazza!!! In addition to old fan favorites like Pikachu, Chansey, and Charizard, we caught glimpses of Quaxley and even tutti-fruity-colored Paldea region Muk.
🧐 Plenty of Mysteries
Again, Shiny Rayquazza!! What role is the sky-dwelling legendary going to play in the new series?
Roy carries a mysterious ancient-looking Pokéball. Is he just a hipster when it comes to his Pokéballs, or is it an ancient artifact hiding an enticing secret?
Riko wears a mysterious pendant which can be seen glowing in the trailer. I’d guess that the Explorers maybe after the pendant which will no doubt play a part in unlocking the new series’ many secrets.
If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the latest trailer and get psyched for a whole new world of Pokémon anime to explore. The show will air in Japan on April 14th and debut in the western world later this year.

The Pokémon Company International and Japanese airline ANA are partnering to launch a new Pokémon-themed jumbo-jet which is decorated with lots of Pokémon. The Jet will cover different international routes and will feature limited edition merchandise on board for anyone lucky enough to fly on it.
